The United States Postal Service has delivered letters to Santa Claus since 1912, well over 100 years ago. This year marked a special occasion as UASRA carried out the ‘Letters to Santa’ event to help collect letters from children and families in the community for the ‘USPS Operation Santa.’
Letters sent to USPS Operation Santa are uploaded to the USPSOperationSanta.com website and make it possible for individuals and organizations to sponsor a letter; this helps out Santa very much!
During the first weeks of December, 49 families signed up to participate in our Letters to Santa. We delivered 76 kits with supplies to make letters and Christmas cards. Santa's ‘official mailboxes’ were located on both sides of the University Village. All letters received before 12/14 (40 letters) were delivered to the USPS to participate in Operation Santa - 2020.
We hope that the families had fun writing the letters and that this activity brought magic and joy to the children.
